Ebon Gage choreographing a piece in "I SAID I"
⇒ I SAID I presented by Theatre Kingston at the newly re-opened Grand Theatre is being described as 'half-play...half-concert...all Kingston'. Some of Kingston's top musicians, dancers, theatre artists, and visual artists have teamed up with community groups from all over Kingston to create an incredible evening of entertainment onstage at the Grand Theatre June 26 & 27 at 8pm and June 28 at 2:30pm. "I SAID I" is an 80-minute long, family-friendly performance celebrating the power of the arts to bring people together.
The dance piece is a collaborative improvisation utilizing the spoken word: creating a rhythm and vocabulary for movement with the students of The Kingston School of Dance from the text of "I SAID I". Each dancer had the opportunity to choose the words that spoke true to them. Look for us in the stanza… “I SPOKE, I SPOKE OUT, I SPOKE WHAT OTHERS THOUGHT”
